My main concern is whether what I’m reading is accurate or not. If I want to know how to operate my toaster, I don’t need to be assured that a human wrote the instructions. But when it comes to art and journalism, come on! With poetry, prose, etc., the whole point is the masterful placing of words in sentences, in paragraphs for the enjoyment and stirring of the reader.

Thus, I think it’s time for a level of accountability. Never did I imagine that I would live in a time that I would have to wonder if a human or computer wrote something. The time has come for those of us who are writers to fight back against the wave of imposter writers.

Humans are uniquely wired with creative faculties that cannot be mimicked. Secondly, no matter how sophisticated AI writers get, we need human writers!

We need writers who are free to express the concerns of their own heart and properly relate to the human condition. AI is censored. AI levels the playing field and not in a good way. It takes horrible writing and morphs it into bland, mediocre mush. It takes high quality writing and brings it down a peg, ensuring that all color is removed and the whole piece is grey. Probably a lot of writers would take an article like this, dump it into Claude and say, “clean this up”. Big mistake. The ensuing result would be a nice dainty pile of horse manure.
